Beyoncé Knowles: Snapshot

As a precocious kid, Beyoncé Knowles found her voice with girl group Destiny’s Child. Shaped by Beyoncé’s manager father Mathew and stylist mother Tina, the stylish R&B quartet launched onto the Billboard charts with 1998′s remix of “No, No, No.” Four No. 1 hits later, DC lost three members, turned into a Grammy-toting trio, and became one of the biggest girl groups in music history.

In 2003, Beyoncé parted from the girls (temporarily) to release her critically-acclaimed debut album, Dangerously in Love. This time, the growing songstress distanced herself from her manager father and won six more Grammys. In 2006, she released her chart-topping follow-up B’Day, which she later re-released in Spanish, collaborating with Latin pop star Shakira.

Beyoncé, who continues to make music with rap mogul and main squeeze Jay-Z, also designs clothes with her mother and has expanded her acting resumé as Deena Jones in the sparkling musical Dreamgirls. For the svelte role, the bootylicious singer lost 20 lbs. but immediately put the weight back on before gracing the cover of 2007′s Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue and earning a Golden Globe nod for Best Actress.

Beyonce to be face of new Armani fragrance

Singer Beyonce Knowles is reportedly set to be the new face and voice of Giorgio Armani’s latest fragrance ‘Empiro Armani Diamonds’.
The buzz began when Armani attended Beyonce’s concert in Milan. A source told pagesix.com: ‘They have known each other for seven years and Armani feels Beyonce represents the glamour and glitz of the fragrance.’
The new perfume will be out in September and she will sing an ‘old American song’, the source added.

Beyoncé Goes Bilingual – Only When Singing

Beyoncé is up to something new: singing in Spanish. “I just feel like I have to learn Spanish because I can sing it – I just can’t speak it,” she says in the new issue of PEOPLE En Español. On April 3 she’ll release a new version of her CD B-Day, which originally came out in September. This time, she’s added six new songs – all sung in Spanish, including “Amor Gitano,” the theme to the Telemundo telenovela Zorro, which she delivers as a duet with Alejandro Fernandez. “A lot of my fans are Hispanic,” she says, “and they’ve always told me, ‘You should sing something in Spanish,’ but I don’t speak Spanish at all. I took it in school [so] I thought, let me give this a try.”

And trying it was. “I did these songs phonetically, sentence by sentence, and I spent a lot of time … making sure it was perfect, because I didn’t want to disrespect the language, because it’s so beautiful,” says the Texas-born singer, 25, who brought help with her to the recording session. “One of my best friends in the world is Cuban, so she was the test. I brought her to the studio and told her, ‘Be honest. You have to tell me if anything is wrong.’ So when she approved it, I knew everything was right.”

Would she ever do an entire album in Spanish? “I would love to,” she says. “I wanted to see how people would respond to me singing in Spanish and I’m so grateful that people have opened up their hearts to what I’ve done.”

BEYONCE AND SHAKIRA TOP UK SINGLES CHART

Pop superstars BEYONCE and SHAKIRA have beaten British rockers ARCTIC MONKEYS to the top of the UK singles charts with their duet, Beautiful Liar.
The Arctic Monkeys song Brainstorm is at number two, while last week’s chart-topper Timbaland is in third position with Give It To Me featuring Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake.
Avril Lavigne’s Girlfriend slips one place to number four, while Mark Ronson’s mish-mash single Stop Me falls from number two to five.
Meanwhile, Lavigne’s new album The Best Damn Thing has debuted at the top of the UK album charts, with Ronson’s Version also a new entry at number two.

Beauties are beating the beasts

THE bootylicious juggernaut of BEYONCE and SHAKIRA is pulling clear of the ARCTIC MONKEYS in the race for the No1 single.
I told you yesterday that the US/Colombian pair were leading the Sheffield rockers by just nine copies in the battle to be on top on Sunday — but that gap has widened to 1,500.
The divas have shifted around 15,200 copies of Beautiful Liar compared to the Monkeys’ 13,700 sales of Brianstorm.
I reckon the lads have done themselves out of a No1 with their single’s unusual release.
It was available to download for two weeks before it hit the shops — instead of the usual one.
But the cheeky chimps probably won’t care — having stuck two fingers up to chart success before.
After their hit debut album they released EP Who The F*** Are Arctic Monkeys? — which was not eligible for the charts at all.

Beyonce Wins Former Business Aide Court Case

A New York judge has dismissed a suit filed against Beyonce and Tina Knowles over a business deal gone bad. Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Herman Kahn ruled yesterday there was no evidence of a written contract between the plaintiff, Icon Entertainment CEO Greg Walker, and the mother-and-daughter fashion team behind House Of Dereon. Walker claimed the Knowleses had held back commission he felt he was owed for helping them set up a deal with clothing manufacturer Wear Me Apparel Corp, which prompted the birth of the House Of Dereon line. Walker filed the lawsuit last summer, after Beyonce paid him $25,000 for his help in setting up a string of marketing and endorsement deals for her. He felt that figure was an insult.
